Spotlight on the Suzuki REGINA

Some of you out there who tend to keep an eye on the Mathews Suzuki blog may have noticed our post about the Japanese automaker's plan for the Tokyo Auto Show. The company had a wide range of city cars to show off, and we couldn't have been more excited. Of course, the only thing more thrilling than outlining these vehicles is honing in on the parts, technologies, features and benefits of one of the in particular. And that's precisely what we plan to do now!
More specifically, the potential new addition to the new Suzuki lineup that we'd like to outline for you today is the Suzuki REGINA. It's a small city car that in its concept form features a metallic green exterior, contrasting, yet complementing, white roof, and a small frame that fits it all into one efficient package.
The result? Lower emissions for one. Another? An estimated 75-mpg fuel economy rating. Of course, we expect some of you out there to question how this can be possible from a smaller vehicle. Even the most subcompact cars here in the U.S. are struggling to top 40 miles per gallon. In the case of the Suzuki REGINA, this incredible feat in fuel economy is the result of both its size and a turbocharged, 800-cc engine with start-stop and regenerative breaking.
So will drivers in the United States be financing or leasing the REGINA in the near future? More specifically, what about you? We'd love to know what you think about the new city car from Suzuki, so feel free to leave us a comment.
